California Prop 65

About Proposition 65 California's Proposition 65, officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a law that requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

Why does NOXBEAM include this warning? At NOXBEAM, we are committed to full legal compliance and the safety of our customers. While our products are built with high-quality aluminum and durable materials, certain components used in the automotive industry (such as powder coatings, rubber seals, or mounting hardware) may contain trace amounts of chemicals listed under Proposition 65, such as Lead or DEHP.

Because we sell our products specifically to customers in California, we provide the following warning to comply with state requirements:

California Residents: WARNING ⚠️ WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Lead and DEHP, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information, go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

Does this mean the product is unsafe? Not necessarily. Proposition 65 is a "right to know" law, not a product safety law. It does not ban the sale of products containing these chemicals; it only requires a warning.

The standards for Prop 65 warnings are often more stringent than federal safety standards. For example, a warning may be required even if the chemical is present in extremely small amounts that are considered safe by the FDA or EPA. We include this warning to ensure we are fully compliant with California law and to keep our customers informed.
